Hello Everyone.

Its been awhile since my last post. I took a bit of a hiatus to renovate etsy shop, focus on designing more pieces and working.

I just started selling my jewelry in a local new age shop, as well as my tarot card bags and white tea & ginger soy candles!

Its been hot here (80 + degrees) so I have been spending my days floating in the pool, and watering my seedlings. I planted some cherry tomatos, mesclun greens, catnip, quinoa, and some sweet pea.

I'll be posting a lot more now, and I hope to include some artist interviews, artist friends, local artists and etsy artists.

I have been reluctant to have much of an online presence but I just today got a twitter account and set out my first tweet. eep. So I now have a blog and twitter dedicated to aquarian soul, hopefully I can get some really interesting things going on in the blog, and use twitter to let everyone know about shop updates!

a rainy day here in san diego calls for some spring cleaning indoors.
i have an incredible amount of craft supplies, and i never seem
to throw anything away it just gets shuffled around.
today i cleaned off my jewelry work space (very small)
(i still prefer to work on the floor.)

still looks like a cluttered mess ugh.

i turned 23 last week and tony organized a little party for me. i also had a nice quiet dinner with my family on the actual day. i decorated the table like alice in wonderland tea party. i got cupcakes from babycakes and played with sparklers.

a new year, a new stone turned.
turning 23 in just 5 short days. seems like the past 2 years

were a blur. i dyed my hair platinum blond,

im starting school, my business is going

well and aquarian soul is going to become the power duo that

my best friend and i always dreamed of.

this year im going to devote myself wholeheartedly

to yoga, the craft, my jewelry, and my friendships with

the wonderful people i love.

i got two new plants today, had a wonderful conversation

with the man who sold them to me. i was inspired

to start a wonderful new hobby. i always

wanted a jungle in my room and now im gonna make

it happen!

i learned today how horrible and unkind human

beings can be but there is no reason to

let that get me down. things are a total 180 of

last year and can only get better!

only a year of school left then business full time

p and p is going to be famous.

this year is going to be absolutely amazing.

I just spent two wonderful weeks with my best friend Lyndsey

Sadly she left yesterday but we had lots of fun!

we went rock hunting, took cemetary strolls, bead store hunts, spells under trees, clothes trades (i will wear them everyday!), beach trips, thrift store finds, delicious burritos, swap meet, bff earrings, "early" morning starbucks and tons of love.

i got the suprise of a lifetime a few weeks ago when i learned i had won the necklace from sunny rising (well for ines) i gave it to her, it was an emotional day full of hugs, making cupcakes and dancing to beach house via pandora.

ive started making a lot of hemp jewelry and today at the art store
i was propositioned to make one. putting off more jewelry making
until i take cabachon class so i can start making it for real. ive also included
a picture of the necklace i made with treats lauren sent me :-)

synchronicity strikes again, i had just asked lady at local new age store
what that brown long thing was and she said sea urchin spine. next day
laurens package arrives in mail. happens to me almost 99% of the time like i am
about to buy a book online i find it for $1 at thrift store. its great.

i have been spending countless hours in the library finding treasures
yoga dvds, amazing music, books on how to make shoes, movies ive been
wanting to watch, feminist poetry, ill never have time to watch.read it all!
ive also been going to the beach alot and oiling up my friends for a super tan.
i was also bored one day and made drastic change to my hair. this is me now.

im a blond! i think they really do have more fun.

this morning my cousin and i headed for the beauty supply store and purchased blue hair dye and a large bag of (secret) supplies for my next hair adventure. the blue didn't take well to his hair so instead i did this. I've always wanted to do this.

oh how i love macaroni and cheese. i've tried many varieties. in the frozen food isle, in fancy organic markets to restaurants i have sampled my fair share. i used to love whole foods mac and cheese at the hot food bar. i even had a part time affair with stouffers mac and cheese when i had my wisdom teeth removed. and the deep friend mac and cheese balls at cheesecake factory? mmmmm. here are a collection of frozen m&c that I have tried.

heat at 350 degrees for 25 min, mmm with a burnt crunchy top so delicious.

this is probably one of the best frozen varieties you can get.

Amys m&c is about half the size of tj brand. pretty similar in taste, but slightlymore bland.

stouffers brand is very creamy and fattening. if you feel like having a homealone moment try this brand, otherwise i wouldn't really recommend it unless you are inhibriated.

this mac and cheese is O organics brand from safeway. its less creamy, similar to the tj brand pretty decent much better than stouffers. MUCH better

i used to joke about buying this "worlds best mac and cheese" beecher brand at whole foods and returning it claiming it was NOT the best m&c. It runs around $15! I have yet to try this but the SF Chronicle voted it #1.

i got another order to make cupcakes for a little girls birthday, and this was the final product. (they're supposed to be heart shaped but they puffed up a little too much in oven)

at the actual party one of the kids was scootering down a hill and ran right into the table where the cupcakes were and knocked them over. i was mildly irritated but hey at least i got them there safe and sound.

i went to get dessert last night with two lovely friends whom i dont see all that often which was nice. although my cocktails of meds made me slightly incapable of forming intelligant sentences. tarot cards were read, nighttime walking downtown which i havent been to in a very long time besides the library.

i woke up today and decided to go thrift store shopping. something i haven't done

in a long time since im already working in one 3 times a week! boy the treasures you find

when you venture to other shops. I found the motherload of vintage slips, shorties, robes

which will go up on my NEW shop ranunculusvintage.etsy.com as soon as they dry. i even handwashed them! so far i put up a hat, and some earrings in the new shop. much more to come, and i will be putting up all my pin up lingerie in aquarian soul once i photograph it all!

today i also got some jewelry displays for craft fairs at an antique store that is closing down.

i love shabby chic and this store displayed it so well! it makes me giddy seeing

such cute little items.

i dont think ive got the hang of this blog thing yet, as far as promoting my shop and

updating on my progress. mostly its just stuff i find. im so lazy to take pictures to post also. oh well.

i just made the cutest charm bracelet in the world with the charms i got at gem fair. i still might add some shiny crystals in between, maybe not.

today was another successful shopping day while i volunteered. i got this lovely

i've been working on some new embroidery and stocking up on vintage lingerie for my new etsy shop: ranunculusvintage. it will also have all my pin up lingerie i've been making! hooray

i finally finished my year long project, rebuilding my bike. i went to a tiny shop out in the middle of nowhere and got a leopard print bike seat to finish it off. here is the result of hours of
sanding, buffing, scraping, painting etc.

i also have been doing a lot of shopping at the thrift store and here are some goods

it has been a long time since my last post. i've been working on a lot of new jewelry. i got some enameled chain from etsy (my first purchase!) and am combining it with various crystals i have to create something magical.

i recently discovered auric blends oil perfumes which is my new obsession. it is a roll on perfume and it reminds me of lip gloss i used to love as a kid. i got "lovers moon" which is described as [gardenia, rose and heliotrope provide sweet floral notes at the top, with sandalwood and musk as the base]

today i went to the gem and bead fair. i was so excited. i spent 3 hours and only saw about a third of the vendors. good thing its a weekend pass, although i've probably already spent too much. i got some crystals, labrodorite beads, pyrite beads, tibetan pendants, big labrodorite ring, the cutest little charms eek.

last week i found two vegan cookbooks brand new at my thrift shop for only $1.50!there was blow out fabric sale and i managed to sneak some out of the pile between customers at the cash register.

i seriously have a problem about not being able to leave the store without findingsomething. today i got a denim skirt, a piece of fabric and 3 new M.A.C brushes for only $3 each! and plus 30% off. they are $32 each usually. crazy what people donate. im now working 3 days a week. im going to have to find another job to pay for all this stuff im buying! eek.

i finally found some moss for my terrerium. you would think it would be a little easier to find in one's own backyard no? apparently not in mine. i took a little hike with my little cousin, brought some trail mix, blackberries and caught some tadpoles. i also found some moss and some plants to use in the terrerium. oh, and we saw a turtle!

so as of recently i've been volunteering at a thrift store twice a week. which means...i get to sort everything before it goes out! i also get 25% off. last saturday i sorted the clothes and picked what went out. today i worked marking down all the stuff that went to clearance. i'll be posting all my finds since i can't ever leave without buying something. today i got a big glass jar to use as a terrarium, a white candy dish, a rose ring holder and a set of bird and flower cards.

today i decorated the wand i collected on my hike. i'm not sure what kind of tree its from but the living portion next to what i collected was growing little red buds. anyhow, i used little agate pebbles i collected from agate beach, humboldt, ca. along the side. also there is a agate slice, green agate and rose quartz hanging from the tip. at the top there is an amethyst tip quartz. the handle is made from strips of leather.

i also made a dress using a vintage pattern i bought at scrap sf. i made size medium thinking it would fit but it was too big for me so i'm now selling it on etsy.

i went to ikea for the first time ever which was actually quite a thrill. i got that little mini drawer box and painted it white and added cupcake lining.

this weekend was my dad's birthday and i made him some vegan cupcakes which was somewhat of an experiment. i made half strawberry half chocolate. one of my aunts friends wants me to make 50 for her son's birthday and will pay me. so i guess they tasted pretty good.

i also found a chair and mirror at an estate sale i'll post pics when i get a chance.

today i went on a search for some white bed linens and duvet cover and ended up with a bunch of bargins instead. i got this great tree branch lamp for only $20 and that cute little rose tin from trader joes for only $2!

and these great little mini cups to store all my markers and misc. for $1

I also got a french connection grey and yellow beaded dress i figure i'll wear to my cousins wedding in vegas. $288 for only $39

and for only $1 each i got this lovely black skirt with velvet roses, size 12 i think its childrens size, they always have the most adorable clothes anyway! and also these two pairs of wing toe dress shoes femme version.

and lastly i got a much needed shabby chic mirror and two frames for all my new watercolors!

what i have so far in the mushroom series, i need a lot of practice! watercolors are a lot different than acrylics. the purple one turned out a little runny.

my pink bike chain arrived in the mail today i am excited to finally get this bike finished once i get someone to correctly screw the crankset on at bike shop. damn specialized tools. then all i need is a new seat then bam im ready for action.

having time off from school and having no real job has given me a lot of time to start a lot of new projects. i finally got aquarian soul up on etsy. aquariansouldesigns.etsy.com . i've been going to estate sales, thrift stores almost daily. i've found lots of vintage lingerie, linens and cute little hankies.

after weeks on end of working on the floor i've finally organized all my painting supplies on one desk and all my jewelry making stuff on another desk. pictures will be put up when i finish. i painted my room but have failed to paint the closet or heating vent which is still bright obnoxious turquoise.

im thinking about getting a lamp similar to this.

or making my own. ive seen a lot of crystal shabby chic lamps
that i am very interested in.

i am also lacking a headboard which makes my bed look like a big tofu

square so im thinking about this for the bed. its velvet!

i've been looking for used library catalog stands to store all my craft supplies. but alas everything ive found has been way out of my price range. i thought maybe an apothocary table until i found this little gem on ikea which i plan on painting white or staining dark to match my furniture.

with hardly any income coming in, ive been a bad girl. i bought this on my credit card. but im going to profit no worries. ive started my series of watercolor, pen and ink series of mushrooms.

i went to the library today to get some decorating tips and botany books and ended up with a red face and a stack of books higher than my head. did i really need two andy goldsworthy books?

estate sale

I love waking up early. Sipping a hot cup of coffee; flipping through the pages of vegenomicon, planing the weeks' many delicious meals. But what could be better than weekend estate sales? Thrifting? pft. Garage sales, yeah right. After pondering whether making the trek was worth it or not, we headed out, taking two buses across town. What a goldmine. The deceased party had a hot pink room, full of vintage 50's and 60's dresses, shoes, fabric, patterns etc. The house was complete with a leopard print bar in the garage. What a dream home. We rummaged for about an hour and made out like bandits. $30 for more than we could even carry.

Some of the gems we found: brand new pair of gold sneakers, denim sneakers, vintage brown heels, vintage fabric and dress patterns, pink vinyl purse, polka dot glass jewelry dish with gold trim, red portable tape recorder/player, mushroom print kitchen towels, lime green short coat with leopard collar, vintge sewing book, pink sewing caboodle full of brand new notions, needles, thread, pink circle rug, hot pink toilet cover, gold mirror tray, gold shelf, shabby chic picture frames, spring green curtains with cream pom poms and a pink rose print towel I plucked from the window that was being used as curtain. I'm going back tommrow to get the toilet seat cover, it just isn't complete without it.

Perhaps a little introduction is necessary. I am a 21 year old designer and owner of Aquarian Soul. I started out making jewelry using found objects, gems and unique beads. All my life I have wanted nothing more than to start my own company. I live in San Francisco with my best friend of 16 years; my soulmate. Together we are Michell Sands formerly P&P Designs. My end of the design scheme is jewelry and vintage pin up lingerie but we collectively design and sew our own clothing. This blog will serve as a place to showcase my designs until a more formal site is made and to share all the new fun places I discover as I explore this wonderful city.
